The Issue of Unaccompanied Minors

We have been reading articles in class about the thousands of unaccompanied minors entering the United States from Spanish-speaking countries. Under a US law dating back to the Bush Administration, these children from noncontiguous countries may stay in the US legally while awaiting disposition of their cases.  We have read and discussed articles from conservative and liberal perspectives, as well as a an article presenting a collection of research, and one from the Post Standard addressing the potential housing locally of a group of these refugees in the city of Syracuse.  In groups, students were asked to discuss what they read and write an opinion piece in Spanish.  You will see them posted below.  We encourage comment!
